For the past about five decades, I had the opportunity to work on public policy issues in economics, bank and non-bank finance, privatization and rural development in South Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan); East Asia (China, Philippines, Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia); Europe and Central Asia (Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan); Eastern Europe (Romania and Albania) and the United States. This was possible due to my work in major national and international institutions: twenty two years with The Reserve Bank of India (India's central bank), and twenty five years with The World Bank. This blog is an attempt to bring this experience to bear upon India's key public policy issues and provoke constructive interaction among interested professionals in support of reforms that will directly serve the interests of over a billion people in India and indirectly the World Community at large. This blog will also address international economic issues as no economy including India’s can operate in isolation any more.
